pj harvey

saw miss harvey at the warfield last night. bedecked in a feather headdress and white robes, she stood very still and upright. An autoharp was cradled in her arms throughout most of the show, though she occasionally swapped it out for a guitar. she never moved once from the spotlit microphone, positioned well away from her band.

i know she’s 41 and has been doing this for a long long time. of course the songs are still incredible, but i kept wishing she’d put that dreaded harp down, pick up an electric and just rock the f out like the good ol’ days. alas, those days may be over… (but i can still reminisce, can’t i!)

currently listening to…

Marnie Stern.

Last night I flew home from New York (such a fun trip…pics and stories to come!). Broke down and finally bought wireless access (for the record, wireless is NOT free on most flights these days…which just seems cruel). While groggily browsing through Elle’s May “Women in Music” issue, I came across a really interesting article about Marnie Stern. This girl can SHRED on guitar and writes insanely amazing, complex, and often twisted songs that give me musigasms. Check out some of her stuff!
